THE BRONZEVILLE CULTURAL FESTIVAL
The Bronzeville Cultural Festival is hosted by Third World Press Foundation as an event to honor Bronzeville’s cultural heritage and to further affirm the outstanding African-American contribution to Chicago’s rich artistic and literary foundation. BCF is comprised of the Bronzeville Book Fair, the Bronzeville Film Festival, and the “star-studded” Bronzeville Film Festival GALA.
Third World Press Foundation, Inc. is a tax exempt organization under Section 501 (c)(3) of the IRS and will serve as the fiscal agent of the Bronzeville Book Fair, Bronzeville Film Festival, and Gala. The foundation was formed as the charitable arm of Third World Press. Third World Press was founded in 1967 by Dr. Haki R. Madhubuti and is one of the premier Black book publishing companies.
The Bronzeville Cultural Festival 2010 will be guided by an advisory board comprised of business leaders, artists, political representatives, religious leaders and community representatives. This board serves in an advisory capacity on logistics, program and planning activities, marketing, fundraising and sponsorship. Despite its high quality of programming and numerous components the festival remains relatively free and open to the public. Patrons are free to enter and leave the events' proceedings at their leisure. Filmmakers and guest speakers participating in the festival are available for questions throughout the weekend.
